Application Process

IF YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO SUBMIT A FULL PROPOSAL, PLEASE LOG-IN AT THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THIS PAGE.

Please be sure to review the information on the Grants History page before applying to ensure that your proposal is consistent with the interests and constraints of The Kettering Family Foundation.

The Kettering Family Foundation uses a two-step application review process, which operates on a biannual cycle, January – May and July – November.

  • Each cycle begins with the applicant's submission of a Request Summary using a form on this Web site. The Request Summary briefs trustees on the grant request so that they may gauge their interest. Applicants may begin working on their Request Summary at any time. The information can be saved in draft form, to be retrieved and finalized before submission by the January 31 or July 31 deadline.
  • Applicants will be informed in two to three weeks of submitting the Request Summary as to the trustees’ decision. If the trustees are interested in the request, the applicant will be invited to complete a full grant proposal, which will be made accessible on this Web site. Complete applications are due by March 1 for consideration at the trustees’ May meeting or by September 1 for their November meeting.

Notice of the awarding or declining of grants is communicated to applicants within 10 business days of the Board of Trustees’ meeting. Generally, grants are paid within 30 days of the Board of Trustees' meetings.

If successful, the chief executive officer of the applying organization will be required to sign a grant recipient agreement that outlines the duties and responsibilities of being a grant recipient.

Faxed, mailed or hand-delivered Request Summaries and full proposals will not be accepted except under unusual circumstances, and solely at the discretion of the Foundation’s staff.

You will be contacted during the application process if additional information is needed. A site visit may be requested.
